Native American, Southwest, New Mexico, Acoma, Mary Ann Hampton, ca. 1950 CE. A lovely polychrome wedding vessel created by Acoma potter Mary Ann Hampton with characteristic twin spouts and braided handle, a pair of intertwining abstract birds adorning each side in russet red and chocolate brown against a bright white ground. 'Mary Ann Hampton Acoma' is painted in black on the base. A stunning example created in the strongly recognized Acoma manner - hand-coiled, with hand-mixed clay and custom slip in traditional hues, so skillfully painted with impressively stylized avian imagery! Size: 3.625" in diameter x 5.5" H (9.2 cm x 14 cm)
