Francis Gary Powers envelope made in prison. This brown hand-cut and hand-made envelope was created by Powers during his sentence at Vladimir Central Prison outside of Moscow. It is sharply cut and held together by glue residue. It measures 4.5 x 6.5''.
The envelope was made to contain the letters and brief postcards Gary Powers sent home. It is an example of the liberties his Soviet captors would sometimes allow him.
