Description
Chinese Qing Dynasty Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze Buddha figure of Akshobhyavajra Guhyasamaja, Akshobhyavajra (Tibetan: sang wa du pa, mi kyu dor je. English: Secret Gathering, Immovable Vajra), foremost tutelary deity of the Method-father class of Anuttarayoga tantra. With the main face in mixed expression of fierceness and desire. The canine teeth are pointed and clenched, frowning and having three eyes, adorned with very beautiful eyebrows. Each of the six hands are adorned with precious rings. The first two hands hold a nine pointed vajra and a bell embracing the consort who is in the same appearance. The right second hand holds a wheel with eight spokes. The third hand holds a lotus with eight petals. The left second hand holds a jewel with nine facets. The third hand holds a sword. Seated with the legs in vajra posture. The jewel on the crown of the head greatly inlaid with semi-precious stones the sun and moon. Adorned with eight different types of precious ornaments: a crown, earrings, choker, necklace, armlets, bracelets, long necklace and belt. The ears are made more beautiful with utpalas and ribbons; wearing various heavenly garments like Indra's bow.
The underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.

PROVENANCE:
The private collections of Earl Sorensen resides in the Atlanta, and is known as a prominent Buddha collector. A International businessman who traded with various Asian countries during the 1960s. On a business trip in Western China, he received a Buddha statue as gift from a monk. Since then, he has became fascinated with Buddhist artifacts and Eastern cultures. After many decades, Earl Sorensen has planned his retirement, and decided to pass his cherished collections to those collectors who would realize the history and value. Earl Sorensen's collections can be found from Lot-25 through Lot-32, Lot-68, Lot-113 through Lot-135, and Lot-138.
Condition
Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, missing some stones inlaid, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. some missing stones inlaid. Normal, consider ages and wear.
