This is a most unusual and rare find, a carved wooden mask from the Makonde peoples of Tanzania, central Africa.A rare style of mask that features a disfigured and grotesque face. The wooden mask shows plenty of age, handling and field use.Measures 12.5 inches tall. A display stand is not included however can be purchased if desired for an additional $30.00Ex Collection of Prof. Charles Bordogna, previous curator of the SMA fathers museum of African Art, and author of several publications on African Art.
