Description

A well weathered and worn mask with traditional open work eyes and a very unusual illness represented , a large goiter. According to research when such a mask was danced it was during entertainment at various festivals, the mask represents a diseased person suffering a goiter. The dancer swings awkwardly at the air with an adze, and the performance draws laughter from the crowd. The mask measures 17 inches tall. A metal display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00. Dogon peoples, Mali, Africa.
