A carved wooden mask with encrusted surface heavily patinated with organic substances. The Mask was worn by a man of the AWA society, acting as an aggressive "Hunter" during dancers who would stalk the rabbit mask dancer though never catch him. Dogon peoples, Mali, Africa. The mask measures 17 inches tall ( 22.5 inches on professional custom display stand which is included) Provenance: The Marshall Mount, New York City, collection prior to 1997.
