Very old carved wooden mask from the Bete ethnic group, within the Dan complex of tribes, Cote De Ivorie, West Africa. A well handled, field used example with inset metal teeth and signs of multiple layers of pigment, worn edges and regalia holes. Measures 11 x 7 inches ( 14.5 inches tall on wooden display stand) Ex Museum collection ( Full provenance upon request) Ex~ Prof. Charles Bordogna, Previous Curator of the SMA fathers Museum of African Art and author of several publications on African Art.
