Later reprinting of the original writings on the famous journey, written by Patrick Gass, soldier and valued member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, "...distinguished also for being the first from the expedition to publish an account of the trip. Having lived so long, Gass is one of the best known of the expedition's enlisted men and has had more written about him than any other man in the Corps of Discovery, except for the two captains."
