A rare first edition of Robert Caverly’s ‘Heroism of Hannah Duston’ Duston was a 17ty-century colonial Puritan who was taken captive by Native American Indians during King William’s War. She is known to have killed and scalped to members of the Abenaki people who were holding her hostage. Because of her heroic actions, she was the first American woman to be honored with a statue. Her story has become more than just a legend, as she is remembered as an American folk hero.
