Description
Robert W. Wood, British-American, 1889-1979. California, Texas, Maryland, Canada, England. Landscape, coastal view, and still life painting. Similar artists: Jose Arpa (Texas).
Nature's Mood is an oil on canvas that is signed lower right: Robert Wood; titled on canvas verso. 25 x 30 in., 30.5 x 35.5 in. frame
Robert Wood's legacy stands as an artist having the most mass-produced lithographs of his work, as the demand for his work could no longer be met. The artist immigrated to the United States as a youth, then travelled the nation extensively. In the late 1920s until the early 1930s he lived in San Antonio, Texas. He gave art lessons, one of his students was Porfirio Salinas. This painting of a stream set before mountains was signed "Robert Wood." In Nature's Mood, stippled paint complements detailed natural forms in a lovely portrayal of a landscape. The view into the scene is flanked on either side by a curtain of trees, which open to the segment of land and again to the soft mountains in the distance.Â
