Robert Wood's legacy stands as an artist having the most mass-produced lithographs of his work, as the demand for his work could no longer be met. The artist immigrated to the United States as a youth, then travelled the nation extensively. In the late 1920s until the early 1930s he lived in San Antonio, Texas. He gave art lessons, one of his students was Porfirio Salinas. This painting of a field blanketed by bluebonnets was signed "Robt. Wood." While in San Antonio, Wood gained a national reputation for his strongly colored landscape paintings, especially ones depicting Texas and California. Created in Texas, this gorgeously vibrant portrayal of a field of Bluebonnet flowers is a fine exemplification of WoodÕs artwork.
