Two French Brass and Leather Helmets, early 20th, one a fireman's example of brass with a figural comb mounted with horse hair, the front with a heraldic shield over a blaze of fire, the sides with pierced design of crossed fire axes, over a brim with a brass lappet mounted leather strap, lacking a liner, H.- 9 1/2 in., W.- 7 3/4 in., D.- 10 1/2 in; the second an Austrian Dragoon Officer's example, of black lacquer with a brass mounted comb over a relief double headed eagle plaque, the front rim with a brass lappet mounted leather strap, the interior with a leather liner, H.- 11 1/2 in., W.- 7 1/2 in., D.- 10 in.
