Description
Two Chinese enamel porcelain dish plates. Qing Dynasty. Scalloped edge plates, decorated with overglaze famille rose enamels depicting precious objects. The underside of the plate having the cobalt blue roundels, bears in overglaze iron red an apocryphal 6-character Ming Dynasty, Chenghua reign mark. The second plate bearing in overglaze iron red a Qing Dynasty reign mark. Each measuring approximately 7.5" diameter, 1.25" high.
CONDITION NOTE: rim chips to the blue roundel plate, see photos.
Provenance, ex. collection Ethel Roosevelt Derby, (daughter of President Theodore Roosevelt). Consigned by her granddaughter.
