This is a rare antique sterling silver fruit spoon in the 1880 'Bead' pattern by Whiting Manufacturing Co. This is in very good condition and has a gilded bowl with a lovely scalloped edge and no monogram. The length is approximately 5-1/8" and the weight is ~15 grams. The back is marked with the old Whiting trademark, STERLING, Pat APP'd FOR and BALL for the silversmith.

Whiting Silver was founded in 1866 by William Dean Whiting, who had earned a reputation as a master maker of sterling silver. During the late 19th century, the firm was one of the premier manufacturers of sterling silver flatware, hollowware, and other decorative objects such as snuff boxes.
