Description
An antique sterling silver folding grape scissors or shears. Presumably of English origin. Shortened scissors with a lush relief pattern of flowers and grapes on the handles. Marked Sterling. Grape scissors are a cutlery specially designed in England during the reign of Queen Victoria for cutting small bunches of grapes or even one grape from a large bunch that lay on a fruit plate on the table during a dinner party. Scissors were considered cutlery and lay on the table along with forks and spoons.
