Description
SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA PATCHWORK QUILT, primarily made up of colorful printed cottons and some flannels with four-square pieced designs and blocks of bright pink with black and white printed designs, striped blue backing and edging. Probably made by a member of the Benjamin Franklin Thompson family, Harrisonburg, VA. Circa 1900. 70" x 80".
Very good condition overall with excellent retention of color, some scattered small stains on front and on reverse, and some areas where stitching for edges did not fully catch the top fabric.
Provenance: Descended in the Benjamin Franklin Thompson (1849-1913) family, Harrisonburg, VA.
