Description

Antique c1900 On Point 9 Patch Quilt measuring 81 x 91 inches. It is comprised of 42 9 Patch blocks, 8 x 8 inches, set on point, 6 by 7, with double pink print alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a 7.5 inch indigo print border. It is hand and machine pieced, hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and a brown and white gingham reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. It is in good condition with only the quilt marking lines evident, minor fading to the border, and a few small spots. Great variety of prints including clarinet, neons, browns, and more. The quilt was from Alvin W Shenk of Manheim, Lancaster County, PA, made by his mother. This quilt is part of the Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon's Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon was THE authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
