NATIVE AMERICAN / PLAINS INDIAN RITUAL / DANCE ARTICLES, LOT OF FOUR, comprising a Horse Dance stick having one end carved in the form of a horse head, with horse hair mane, and the other end carved as a horse hoof, and decorated with feathers, brass hawk bells, beadwork band above hoof, and a Civil War-era "Scovill's / Waterbury" U.S. Army infantry button; a buffalo rib rattle/dance stick with painted decoration, buckskin-wrapped grip, buckskin "bowstring", brass hawk bells, beads, and paint-decorated hawk feathers, signed "MANY HORSES, '94" (Michael Schwab); a coup stick with beadwork and horse hair tufts to each end, trimmed with buffalo or similar fur, and an attached medicine wheel/dream catcher with horse hair tufts, attributed to artist Ken West; and a hand-held dance drum with stretched hide head, and padded drumstick, by artist Gloria Wells-Norlin. Buffalo rib example with artist's description on studio letterhead, signed by the artist. Fourth quarter 20th century. 22" to 36" LOA, not including tufts/tassels.
