After studying under Eugene Valin and Victor Prouve, his art career was initiated via his poster of Josephine Baker at the Revue Negre. He created nearly two thousand posters, which were highly stylized, bold scenes of performance art, theater, and jazz. This poster depicts Josephine Baker at the Bar des Folies Africaines wearing nothing but a short grass skirt and bangle bracelets. While successfully holding a tray with one hand she dances, swaying to one side and resting on the toes of her right foot. There is a man in a tuxedo standing behind her, smoking, dancing, and touching her waist. She is shown in color while he is gray and black. Behind them sprouts the Eiffel tower.Dimensions: 25 x 18 in. sight, 32.75 x 25.75 in. frameArtist or Maker: Paul ColinMedium: Color lithographDate: 1926
