After studying under Eugene Valin and Victor Prouve, his art career was initiated via his poster of Josephine Baker at the Revue Negre. He created nearly two thousand posters, which were highly stylized, bold scenes of performance art, theater, and jazz. This poster depicts a dark figure dancing wildly upon a piano with a huge with a huge grin. The figure is a dark silhouette with soft red glowing in areas.
