Richard Red Skelton, American, 1913-1997, California, Indiana Clown head and figure “Parachute Ride - "Missed the Boat"” Signed in felt-tip pen ink, and editioned on plate "O 43/225" This lithograph depicts a clown parasailing above a lake, with a sailboat and a row boat wading in the water, the latter of which he is tied to. He is dressed in shorts and a torn yellow shirt, an orange and white scarf, and a black top hat. The clown sits, harnested in the parasol, holding on to two ropes. The umbrella floats above, decorated in a flower-like pattern of yellows, blues, reds, and grays. The sky and water are intense blue hues.
