Description
David Ericson, Swedish-American, 1869-1946, England, Paris, Massachusetts, New York, Minnesota Impressionist sea-landscape “Clipper Ship” Signed lower right David Ericson studied at the Art Students League of New York under William Merritt Chase, before studying with James McNeill Whistler. Among his success was the silver medal at the St. Louis World’s Fair, and a gold medal awarded in Paris. He lived in Duluth throughout his life and spent much of his career abroad. This oil painting shows an American Clipper ship out to sea with the soft glow of the setting sun ahead of it. The sun also casts colored light upon the clouds so that they have become pink. The ship and the waves of the water were created with exquisite detailing that is visible from afar.Dimensions: 24 x 36 in., 35.5 x 47.5 in. frameArtist or Maker: David EricsonMedium: Oil on canvas
