Description
A nice Egyptian ceramic figure of Harpokrates, Ptolemaic, c. 3rd – 1st Century BC, mold made and modeled in the round, the youthful deity stands wearing an ankle length robe and clutches a jar in his left arm, right finger pressed to his lips. His facial features are nicely detailed and he wears a large wreathed diadem and a solar headdress. H: 7 in (17.8 cm). Well-preserved with remnants of white slip and traces of pink pigment. Cf. Carlsberg Glyptotek 14 for type; Ex Sloans and Kenyon, Bethesda, MD.
