Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. 20th century CE. Indonesia is known for its long tradition of festival masks, and this fine wooden example of a hybrid boar/human creature continues that. With bulging eyes, large, flat ears, a huge, pig-like snout, and real tusks projecting from his mouth, he is both threatening and comical. Size: 11.4" W x 7.5" H (29 cm x 19 cm)
