Jane Byrd McCall Whitehead (American 1861-1955) "View From Arcady, Montecito, California" oil on wood panel, unsigned, framed, image: 6"h x 9"w, overall: 12"h x 14"w Catalogue note: Arcady was the Whitehead's California home before they founded the Byrdcliffe Arts & Crafts Colony in Woodstock, NY. Jane, who studied at the Academie Julian, Paris, often painted en plein air with her artist neighbors including Leonard Lester, Bolton Brown, Birge Harrison, and Hermann Dudley Murphy. Provenance: Estate of Peter Whitehead, son of Jane and Ralph Radcliffe-Whitehead Exhibited: Arcady to Byrdcliffe: The Whiteheads' Circle of Artists, James R.
