Original oil on canvas Signed 'Roberto Lupetti'. In keeping with the themes of Italian painter Roberto Lupetti (1918-1987), this oil painting on canvas depicts an older man, with his head slightly bowed and a book held close to his chest with both hands. Lupetti has painted a number of portraits of Jewish men and Rabbis, especially men engaged in religious study. Though this man does not wear a kippah, and the viewer cannot discern if the book he holds is a religious text, his long beard and hair are reminiscent of the Rabbis in some of Lupetti's other portraits. His face is grave, suggesting that he is engaged in some sort of serious study.

The painting is in a gold-painted wooden frame, with velvet border surrounding the canvas.

The painting shows well, with colors bright and lines clean. Image shows very minor foxing, mostly concentrated on the lower left side. A small abrasion is present to the canvas just above the man's head. The frame is well preserved, with only minor soiling to the velvet border. A tag from Aaron Borthers, a few ink notes, and the artist's name printed in ink are present to the rear of the frame.
