Description
Egypt, Pre-Dynastic Period, Nagada/Naqada II, ca. 3600 to 3000 BCE. One of the most recognizable and desirable of all early Egyptian art. Pottery jar in very characteristic black-top design and red lower section. Vessel tapers to a nearly flat base, rim flares slightly with upper 1-1/2 to 1/2 inches with deep black burnished band - a result of a firing technique perfected by the early Egyptian potters. Size: 6.5" H (16.5 cm)
