Description
One-thousand years ago, Choctaw ancestors made beautiful stone-bladed axes, called "iski-fa" in the Choctaw language. These ax heads or choppers were mortised into hardwood handles of hickory or oak. This blade was recovered in the late 19th century near the Natchez Trace. The blade is 4 inches long, 2-1/2 inches wide, and 1-1/2 inches deep. It has been suspended with 4 mm turquoise and onyx heishi suitable for wall mounting or framing.
