Welcome to galerieTAO - ornaments for home, body, and soul! We specialize in vintage and contemporary fine art and jewelry, and ethnographic art from the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Significant collections include neolithic and archaic funerary jades and Mingqi, ornaments, functional art, and bronze from China, Buddhist amulets from Tibet and Nepal, African masks, lost-wax bronze castings from Cote d'Ivoire, and Native American jewelry from the American Southwest. These culturally significant ethnographic collections are united through exploration of myth, deities, and immortality with celebrations of life and the natural world. Personal Note: Neolithic and archaic jades are not for everyone - five thousand year old cultures have startling different aesthetics! We have several very small pei (amulets or toggles) that were clearly created for children, and other sculpture for cherished wives or shaman. One can feel aeons of ch'i embodied in these artifacts. I feel the same way about Native American silver and bead work. Truly beautiful work resonates.
