Description
Available now for bidding is a very unique, and very beautiful Swiss cylinder music box. Believed to be manufactured by Mermod Freres of Ste. Croix in the mid-late 1800's and inspected and distributed by Jacot's and Sons of New York City circa 1886 out of their 39 Union Square location. Spin the factory crank and the music box plays 8 tunes on its single 47 comb cylinder, start or stop the tracks with the simple lever, and continue to the next track or listen again with the repeat lever. The box is manufactured with a gorgeous and rare rosewood, and custom floral inlays, as well as inlayed bordering. Open the lid and expose the interior, where you will first see the cylinder and mechanics, but you will also see a fun cherub scene. The only flaw to this fine music box is that the play card seems to be held in with third party hardwear. The play card may also not be original to the box. The box measures 17" x 8" x 5 1/2".
