Sherman's Special Field Orders, No. 120, November 9, 1864, 4 pp manuscript, sheet 9 ¾” x 7 ¾”, 4 pp total, 3 pp script, “Congress” eagle blindstamp in upper left corner, was applied to paper after folding, as the impression goes through to the back of the 2nd leaf & the impression is fainter on the 2nd leaf. These were military orders issued during the American Civil War, on November 9, 1864, by Major General William Tecumseh Sherman of the Union Army. He issued these orders in preparation for his famous March to the Sea, also known as the Savannah Campaign. Written and signed on behalf of Sherman by S.M. Dayton, Adjutant. From the previous lot 4862 containing the entire Civil War Archive, "Army Record and Other Papers belonging to I(saac) D Landis".
