PENNSYLVANIA / VIRGINIA COIN SILVER SERVING / TABLE SPOONS, SET OF FIVE, rounded tip handles, with "C" monogram, marked to back "I. LeTELLIER" for John LeTellier, or John LeTellier Jr., Philadelphia, PA (active c. 1770 to 1791) and/or Richmond, VA (active c. 1800 to 1810). Total weight: 9.24 ozt. Late 18th/early 19th century. 9" L.
Excellent condition overall, expected minor denting/bending, and wear to bowl tips.
Provenance: Property from Seven Oaks Farm, Albemarle Co., VA.
Catalogue Note: There is currently no known way to differentiate between the works of John Tellier Sr. and his son John Tellier Jr. The elder Tellier worked in Pennsylvania primarily, and his son is thought to have worked beside him for much of his career. Tellier Jr. eventually found his way to Richmond, VA, and is most famous for producing the "Jefferson cups" favored by Thomas Jefferson.
