CORNELIUS HALY HANKINS (MISSISSIPPI / TENNESSEE, 1863-1946) STILL-LIFE PAINTING, oil on canvas, a fine depiction in the trompe l'oeil style of ripe red grapes on a vine against a plaster wall, signed and dated "Cornelius Hankins / 96", on original stretchers retaining patented miter clamps. Housed in a 19th-century figured maple with gilt sight edge. 1896. 18 3/8" x 13 3/8" sight, 23 1/4" x 18 1/4" OA.
Painting in excellent visual condition with very minor abrasions. Frame with minor wear.
