Noted for his paintings of sheep and chickens, this work combines both in a pleasant manner. Signed Corn. van Leemputten” in black, lower left and signed again on the back with the following notation: Je declare que le tableau ci contre representant carse paysage avec moutons cst peint par moi. Corn Van Leemputten.” (roughly “I declare that the scene on the other side, a landscape with sheep was painted by me. Corn. Van Leemputten”). Sight size is 24 1/2 by 34 1/2 inches and overall size with massive original frame is 40 3/4 by 50 3/4 inches. Generally in good overall condition with very mild craqueleur and rough corners on the frame.
