JEAN ELEANOR BOWMAN (AMERICAN, 1917-1994) EQUINE PORTRAIT, oil on canvas, titled "FLYAWAY" in artist's hand at lower sight edge and signed "Jean Bowman" lower left. Housed on original stretchers in likely original gilt frame. 1941. 10" x 12 3/4" sight, 15" x 17" OA.

Provenance: From the estate of Edith Joan Young Edwards, Huntly, VA.
Catalogue Note: "Flyaway" was a winning show jumper horse belonging to Edith Joan Young (later Edwards) when she and the artist, Jean Bowman, were in boarding school together.
