Description
SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE BOWL, lead-glazed interior and exterior, shallow form featuring an upright rim with slightly concave outer edge and pronounced beaded foot. Interior with slipped decoration comprising a yellow ring above manganese and copper bands, and a yellow squiggled band, outer edge of rim with a yellow-slipped sine wave decoration. Kiln reduction resulting in a mottled orange and green color. Probably New Market, VA. 1820-1850. 2 7/8" H, 11 1/4" D rim.
Very good as-found condition, some shallow chips to inner rim, none of which disfigure the profile, expected surface wear to center, shallow chip and several flakes under base.
