Description
A JAPANESE LATE MEIJI PERIOD SATSUMA EARTHENWARE BRUSH POT WITH POLYCHROME ENAMEL AND GILT DECORATION, SIGNED "TAIZAN," KYOTO, CIRCA 1880-1900, the cylindrical vessel with three gilt bordered bands of decoration, the top with birds flying over the coast surrounded by stylized floral decoration, the middle with raised scrolls centering shaped reserves with scroll decoration, and the bottom with textile based geometric and floral decoration, signed. Height: 6 1/4" Diameter: 3 1/8"

In overall good condition with minor surface rubbing and wear commensurate with age and use.
