Early Florida oils on artist board painting by important Gainesville artist Emmaline Buchholz (1888-1973 North Carolina / Florida) Depicts a small child peering into a fountain at the foot of very elaborate set of stairs. A dragon can be seen in the railing. Possibly one of the long gone historic houses of Palm Beach or St. Augustine Signed lower right. Mrs. Buchholz is considered Florida's First Lady of Art. A pioneer in the early Florida art scene and first president of the Florida Federation of Art. Her painting of George Washington, after Gilbert Stuart, hangs in the Florida House of Representatives chamber. Board measures 8 1/4" x 6 1/2" Frame measures 12" x 10" Good condition with wear to frame. In house USA continental shipping $45 plus insurance.
