Early Florida watercolor with oils on paper landscape painting by important Gainesville artist Emmaline Buchholz (1888-1973 North Carolina / Florida) Depicts a beautiful seascape with gorgeous sunrise sky. Signed lower right. Mrs. Buchholz is considered Florida's First Lady of Art. A pioneer in the early Florida art scene and first president of the Florida Federation of Art. Her painting of George Washington, after Gilbert Stuart, hangs in the Florida House of Representatives chamber. Work measures 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" Frame measures 10 3/4" x 8 3/4" Good condition with toning and fading. Frame with wear. In house USA continental shipping $45 plus insurance.
