Bob Hope (1903-2003) was an English-American comedian, vaudevillian, actor, singer, athlete, dancer, and author. His career spanned nearly 80 years, and he appeared in over 70 feature films and short films. He also appeared inmany stage productions and televisions, and authored 14 books. He began doing regular TV specials in 1954, and hosted the Academy Awards fourteen times in the period from 1941 to 1978. Bob Hope was awarded over two thousand honors and awards, including 54 honorary doctorates. Hope had a deep respect for the men and women who served in the military, and was willing to go anywhere in order to entertain them.
