Condition
We would like to thank Julius Lowy Frame and Restoring Company for the following condition report: The artwork is executed in oil on a medium wove canvas, which has been lined with wax to an auxiliary linen canvas. The texture and discoloration of the wax visible on the back of the painting suggest that the lining may have been performed in the 1980s. Discolored and brittle edging scattered spots throughout, and in concentrated large areas in the trees on the left side of the painting, as well as in the lower right portion. Because of the period at which the treatment seems to have been performed, it is expected that much of the re-touch areas on the left and right sides of the painting are exhibiting a large portion of unnecessary added paint, which could likely be reduced and improved if the painting should be cleaned and re-done at this point. The painting has an older layer of synthetic varnish which appears discolored. Overall the painting is in good and stable condition.
