Condition
Glue-lined canvas; craquelure and frame wear; work may benefit from a cleaning; under UV light, there appears to be inpaint along edges - most notably at center right edge and scattered touches to address flakes of loss; an approx. 1 x 3 inch line of inpaint at center of work; an approx. 4 x 5 inch upside down L-shaped repaired tear to the left of Matterhorn; an approx. 3 x 2 inch I-shaped repaired tear near lower center left edge; an approx. 6 inch line of inpaint to the left of the cabin.
Note: The combination of the acorn and oak motif to torus molding, sand-decorated stenciling to cove, and base composition of pine strongly suggests that the work's frame is American and dates to third quarter of the 19th century (1850-1875), consistent with the creation of the painting.
Framed Dimensions 46 X 41.75 Inches
