Tibbets (1915-2007, American Brigadier General, pilot of the Enola Gay), Theodore Van Kirk (1921-2014, American Major, navigator of the Enola Gay), Morris R. Jeppson (1922-2010, American Second Lieutenant, assistant weaponeer of the Enola Gay) and Richard Nelson (1927-2003, American Private First Class, radio operator of the Enola Gay), the historic image depicting the crew, on the runway, having just returned from the dropping of the Little Boy atomic bomb by the B-29 bomber Enola Gay on 6th August 1945 during the final stages of World War II.
