Description
An Art Deco silver christening mug, of stepped tapered form with engraved personal inscription and 'C' shape handle, the whole raised upon a circular splayed foot, hallmarked G Bryan & Co., Birmingham 1931, height 3 2/8 inches (8.2 cm). Together with a further smaller silver example of plain form, hallmarked Joseph Gloster Ltd., Birmingham 1928. Gross weight 5.3 ozt (167.1 grams). (2).
Condition
In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The Art Deco is engraved with 'Elizabeth Madeliene Nov. 18. 1933', it has some minor bumps to the body, some heavier tarnishing around edges and corners. The smaller mug has heavier speckled tarnishing to the interior and to the handle which has some dents and bumps to the bottom curve, remnants of polish visible. Hallmarks slightly rubbed but clear and legible.
