Description
The lot features a Northern Plains Native American Indian four spiked war club. The piece shows a solid wood haft construction with carved grip and cutout end. The haft is showing a file burned pattern with brass covered iron trade tacks with four forged iron spikes inlaid into the piece. The piece has an early scalp drop showing a beaded edge with 19th century glass trade seed beads in corn yellow, semi-transparent pink, Cheyenne pink, dark blue and semi-transparent sky blue (the drop appears to be a later addition or later repaired). The piece is well preserved and shows good museum quality condition and displays very well. Provenance: This piece is from a large Native American & Old West private collection in Saskatchewan, Canada. Measures overall 34 1/8"L x 5.5"W x 1" thick. The drop is 20"L. The spikes are 2 5/8"L each.
