Thomas Barker of Bath (British, 1769-1847) was a painter of landscapes and rural life. Although born in Pontypool, Wales, he is known as 'Barker of Bath' as Bath, Somerset was his main place of work. Barker was a child prodigy and entirely self-taught. He was strongly influenced by the works of Thomas Gainsborough (English, 1727-88). His brother, Benjamin Barker of Bath (British, 1776-1838) was also a painter of landscapes.
