CLIVE BARKER (British b. 1940) A SCULPTURE, "Portrait of Francis Bacon," CIRCA 1978, bronze, artist stamp at base of neck. Height: 26" Width: 39" Depth: 39" Note: Depicting a full bronze sculpture taken from a life mask of the painter Francis Bacon under an umbrella, an object which frequently appears in Bacon's work. Clive Barker created six bronze and six plaster versions of a life mask of Francis Bacon. Both artists completed several portrait works of one another. There was a second edition of three further bronzes made. Provenance: Estate of David E. Brauer, Houston, Texas.
Condition
Tip of umbrella broken, apparent adhesive substance used previously to reattach, minor surface wear commensurate with age, generally in good condition.
