A letter in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Naftali Zilberberg. The letter was sent from Warsaw to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld in 1902.
[the date appears in the body of the letter]. Rabbi Zilberberg asks for Rabbi Yosef Chaim to pray for Moshe son of Shaindel Chaya who "will be examined by him" on Shabbat. He also asks him to take action to prevent people from writing thanks and praises to him with many honorifics: "As my soul despises all of this - especially as I did not act for them, but only for the Holy Torah which is disgraced to the depths of disgrace by our many sins - and it is clear that the will of Almighty G-d is that one who makes an effort...should not desire praise from people for his actions...", and other personal matters.
Rabbi Chaim Naftali Zilberberg [1850-1930], one of the prominent Dayanim in Warsaw. A disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter and the 'Beit HaLevi'. A confident of the Netziv of Volozhin and the Chafetz Chaim. Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman always referred to him as "the righteous Gaon". He was very active in strengthening Shabbat and family purity observance, printed Kol Koreh posters to encourage following halacha. He published the works of his father, Rabbi Avraham Binyamin Av Beit Din of Wieruszów, as well as the works of his grandfather the Kutno Gaon, author of the Zayit Ra'anan.
