Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A seated pottery figure of a male warrior wearing "barrel armor", what we believe were woven baskets worn over the torso. The figure holds a staff or mace in both hands in front of his stomach and is seated with legs down and a third leg on the floor like he is seated on a chair. Atop his head perches a small dog with perky ears and tail. Black, cream, and red slip give the figure detail. Size: 2.1" L x 3" W x 6.5" H (5.3 cm x 7.6 cm x 16.5 cm)
