This poster was designed by Lautrec in 1892 to promote his friend Victor Josée’s erotic novel entitled “La Reine de Joie: Moeurs du demi-monde”, about a beautiful young courtisane whose lavish lifestyle was sustained by her lover, a rich, corpulent, older banker.
